Gua Sha (pronounced gwar-shar) is a gentle scraping technique most commonly used in skin health treatments and for stiff & tight muscular conditions. Gua Sha promotes dilation of capillaries, allowing the blood and oxygen to be drawn closer to the surface of the skin, and promoting proper lymphatic drainage of the skin. It drains toxins that may accumulate under the skin (like in acne), activates circulation, and is very relaxing. Gua Sha is a part of our Skin Health treatments, and we can teach you to perform your very own facial gua sha routines at home!
Please note: Gua Sha is not offered as a stand alone treatment. It is only included as part of your acupuncture session when your practitioner deems it appropriate.
