Cosmetic Acupuncture to feel AND LOOK your best!
Cosmetic acupuncture utilises ancient Chinese Medicine techniques such as acupuncture, guasha, and jade rolling to provide you with a youthful glow. Throughout the ages these techniques have been used to smooth fine lines, promote circulation, boost collagen production, drain toxins, eliminate acne, tone facial muscles and brighten the skin. Cosmetic acupuncture, unlike Botox and fillers, allows you to experience the joy of reverse ageing without having to freeze your face or fill it up with chemicals that don’t really belong there. This then allows your natural beauty to shine through and for the gorgeous you to remain YOU, inside and out.
So what’s involved in Cosmetic Acupuncture?
The treatment usually begins with a guasha facial, where we wash the face and apply a serum. We then perform a facial using either a jade or rose quartz guasha tool – this is usually where you fall asleep and enter bliss land! We may then use gentle, super-fine acupuncture needles that are specifically designed to be used on the face. These needles generally stay in for about 15-30 minutes. At the conclusion of the treatment we may use a jade roller to cool and soothe the skin and close the pores. Each and every treatment is individualised and targeted to meet your specific wants and needs, and to match your constitutional Chinese Medicine Pattern. You may also receive herbs or diet & lifestyle advice to fit your pattern and keep you feeling great, both inside and out.
How does it work?
Acupuncture promotes the circulation of Qi and Blood in the face, promotes muscle tone, and is very relaxing.
Guasha drains toxins that may accumulate under the skin (like in acne), activates circulation, and is very relaxing.
Jade Rolling cools the skin, closes the pores , and is very relaxing.
(You may notice some similarities between the three…. 😴)
What are some of the side effects and benefits you may experience from cosmetic acupuncture?
- A calm mind, reduced feelings of stress, improved sleep
- Better digestion, less bloating, glowing skin
- Rarely bruising occurs, however this is not common
- Regular periods, improved mood, hormone regulation
- Did we mention its relaxing?
Like in all aspects of Chinese Medicine treatment, expect to leave your appointment with homework! Your treatment doesn’t only happen in the clinic, we will offer you diet and lifestyle advice that will boost your treatments to the next level. Additionally we can train you to perform the guasha facial at home so that you can experience the relaxation any time you please!
We generally recommend a course of 6-10 cosmetic acupuncture sessions that should be performed at regular intervals. Dr Emmy is our resident cosmetic queen, and offers complimentary 15 minute skin assessments where you can discuss your specific concerns and she will provide a tailored treatment plan for your specific needs.
