Women's Health & Wellness
Book NowToday, women lead busier lives than ever before. Between work, kids, home, family and other commitments, we barely end up with any time to look after ourselves, right?
At Bloom Chinese Medicine, women’s health & wellness is one of our biggest passions.
Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe periods aren’t supposed to be excruciating? Or that maybe you don’t have to accept thrush and UTIs as part of life as a female? Or maybe, whether or not you really need to be on the pill to “control your hormones” & live a normal life?
As women, we are often expected to put up with a lot of “normal” health problems. Here at Bloom Chinese Medicine, we think it’s important to make the distinction between what is common and what is normal. We absolutely don’t believe in putting up with health issues just because they’re common.
A Normal Menstrual Cycle
Here’s what a textbook “perfect” woman’s menstrual cycle is supposed to look like:
- 27-29 days
- zero pain
- not too heavy, nor too light
- no PMS – profound fatigue, pain, bloating, sore breasts or headaches
- no spotting before or after
- a fresh red colour – not brown, purple or pale pink
Does that sound too good to be true? We here at BCM believe that all women deserve to have a normal menstrual cycle, as described above. We can assist you in working through identifying and addressing any problems that may be getting in the way of you achieving that.
Maybe you’ve been diagnosed with one of the myriad of hormonal health issues that circulate in our world, such as PCOS or endometriosis, or you’re suffering from pelvic pain. Or perhaps, you’re further along your journey, and your menstrual period has ended – only to be replaced with a new set of equally unwanted symptoms such as hot flushes, insomnia, mood swings, and fluid retention.
No matter where you’re at, our practitioners are well versed in supporting all aspects of women’s health, and can discuss with you your health concerns and how we may be able to assist.
Some common women’s health issues include:
- Infertility
- Endometriosis & Adenomyosis
- PCOS
- painful periods (dysmenorrhoea)
- post-pill syndrome (YES, it’s a thing!)
- Short cycles (<26 days)
