Acupuncture Point Spotlight: Liver 2

by Feb 9, 2017Acupuncture, Acupuncture Points

Wow, it’s a scorcher in Melbourne today! 37 degrees, sunny, and windy (the trifecta!).

I know a lot of people who really hate hot weather – it makes them cranky and irritable, they get an unquenchable thirst, have trouble sleeping, and sometimes even get headaches from the heat (or possibly dehydration).

Does this sound like you? If so, do I have an acupuncture point for you!

Introducing…

Liver 2

Also known as Xingjian, translated as “moving between”.

Liver 2 is a point that is very familiar to most acupuncturists, because it’s awesome. Here’s what it can help with:

  • headaches (especially behind-the-eye ones)
  • red, sore eyes
  • thirst
  • feelings of heat in the body
  • irritability, frustration & anger

If any of those symptoms sound like you on a day like today, this is a great point for you to massage! Here’s where it is:

To find it, measure approximately 0.5cm from the junction of your big and second toe. Massage firmly for 30 seconds each side, and repeat as needed until you feel a bit better.

I hope this helps make the day a little easier for you!

In health and happiness,

Dr. Grace Jones (BHSc.Acu)
